25. Vitt, E.; Shull, K.R. Macromolecules 1995, 28, 6349. "Equilibrium Contact Angle for Polymer/Polymer Interfaces".

Abstract: Atomic force microscopy is used to measure the contact angles of poly(2-vinyl pryidine) on a grafted polystyrene layer. The measured contact angles are independent of the size of the poly(2-vinyl pyridine) droplets. The contact angles are also in agreement with measured values for the surface energies of the two polymers, and of the assumed interfacial tension between them. These results provide the first confirmation that equilibrium contact angles can be measured for a completely polymeric system, allowing one to obtain important information with regard to the surface and interfacial energetics of amorphous polymer melts.
